* finetune backlight: add some newlines, clarify stuffArthur Heymans2016-06-281-8/+9
| | | | | | | | LED needs a higher PWM freq so lower devider. Uneven backlight is more important to fix first when there is also noise. Makes it more clear that you want highest good value for devider, which is equal to finding the lowest working frequency.

* x60,t60: delete manually added c4 stateArthur Heymans2016-06-192-147/+0
| | | | | | | The ich7 datasheet "IntelĀ® I/O Controller Hub 7 (ICH7) Family" has a reg called GEN_PMCON_1 in which c3 can automatically be upgraded to c4. This is already set in coreboot.
* Disable native PS2 keyboard initArthur Heymans2016-06-1919-19/+19
| | | | | | Both grub and seabios can do keyboard init on their own. This option only slows down the boot process. On the x60 it even makes the keyboard unresponsive.
* Add sound card config for x60Arthur Heymans2016-06-191-0/+65
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The sound card on the x60 is not configured in coreboot. This causes the headphones not to be automatically detected/used when inserted which it does on the vendor bios. The internal microphone is also not set as default. I found on the coreboot wiki how to get the config from vendor bios. In GNU/linux run: for x in /sys/class/sound/card0/hw*; do cat "$x/init_pin_configs" > pin_"$(basename "$x")"; done for x in /proc/asound/card0/codec#*; do cat "$x" > "$(basename "$x")"; done which gives the pin config of the vendor bios.

* Enable extended states and dynamic L2 cacheArthur Heymans2016-06-013-0/+52
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch sets msr bits to enable dynamic L2 cache which is a requirement for C4E, which is also enabled by this patch. the bit for C2E is also set. Those msr bits are taken from later cpus and seem to work fine. C2 state performs particularly bad. Before this patch it consumed ~17-18W. After this patch it dropped to 14W. Idle power usage (C4) seems to remain very similar.

* gm45: 256M default vramArthur Heymans2016-05-2412-0/+214
| | | | | | 352M vram seems to be quite unstable on targets with 4GB or more. 256M has yet to show issues on different ram configurations. This might be a good default for libreboot.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This was submitted on the mailing list. I further added the full list of authors to the copying section. There were a few copyright authors missing in the file that Paul submitted. There are some TODO entries at the start of the document, which Paul left for us. We need to work on those. Also TODO: integrate this into build system, so that we have these options: ./build docs html ./build docs html-onepage ./build docs pdf etc

* actually, 3 seconds is enoughLeah Woods2016-05-201-1/+1
| | | | | According to damo22 on IRC, PS/2 only needs 1.2 seconds. Coreboot sets it 3s by default, so let's just use coreboot's default setting.

* Add boards: use a static CMOS option table, for consistencyLeah Woods2016-05-2018-18/+19
| | | | | | | | | | This also forces GM45 to use 352MiB RAM for the Video RAM, for the Intel GPU. It's implemented in such a way where the user configures it using nvramtool. Hardcode it. This should also force the century byte to be reset on GM45, for those users who were affected by this previous issue.
